The Southern Maryland Agricultural Development Commission (SMADC) focuses on outreach to help area farmers grow and thrive. The following initiatives are part of SMADC's outreach/education programs: Maryland FarmLINK; Southern Maryland Trails; Buy Local Challenge; Southern Maryland Meats; and Cornelia and the Farm Band. SMADC assists the five Southern Maryland counties — Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, Prince Georges and St. Mary’s — and throughout Maryland.
Through a layered and multifaceted strategy, SMADC seeks to preserve environmental resources while keeping the region's farmland productive and the agricultural economy vibrant.
