After college, spent two years as an auditor for what was then Touche Ross. Returned to Skagit Valley to manage Northwest Septic, Inc. full time in 1989. In 2000, started Mitchell Septic, Inc. focusing on septic system design. Passed the Washington State Professional On-Site Wastewater Treatment System Designer’s test the first time it was offered (2001)
