RILS is a 501c3 nonprofit corporation organized for the purposes of providing legal assistance in noncriminal proceedings or matters to persons financially unable to afford legal assistance in the state for Rhode Island.
RILS provides high quality legal assistance and representation to the elderly, victims of domestic violence and low-income individuals. RILS has twenty-eight staff attorneys in two offices (main office in Providence and another office in Newport) that serve all areas of the state.
RILS is principally funded through grants from Legal Services Corporation, a nonprofit corporation established by Congress to administer a national legal assistance program throughout the country.
