Bay Area’s original Korean tofu house since 1999, where traditional and genuine Korean food is served along with innovative and artistic dishes not found elsewhere.
Pyeong Chang Tofu House opened in Oakland California in 1999 specialized in Korean traditional tofu soup along with stoneware Bi Bim Bab for 15 years. Instant rice is cooked in the hot stoneware to the customers and the remaining rice in the stoneware are to be enjoyed either crunchy rice (nulungji) or pour hot water to make a soup (nulungjitang).
Pyeong Chang’s side dishes (banchans) comes in seven different types of vegetables and they are interchanged every day and seasonally except for Kimchi and sweet potatoes. The seven different banchans are cooked with the vegetables that appear in season in particular, it is well known as a healthy food to minimize the destruction of nutrients.
The beans used to make soft tofu are known as the natural meat that soil brings to the table. The main ingredient of beans are full of proteins that helps human body to prevent adult disease and known as the well-being food. Moreover, Pyeong Chang Tofu House is well-known as a family restaurant where customers are able to select their own preference of the tofu soup as well as the spicy level. On top of that sprout Bibimbap is served with all kinds of vegetables along with the hot stoneware rice that preserve the warmth until the end of the meal. Pyeong Chang also serves Korean BBQ that contains special Korean traditional marinated sauce soaked in the ribs and chicken BBQ that brings out a new flavor of the chickens can be only tasted in Pyeong Chang Tofu House.
Samgyetang (chicken soup) is one of the popular item during the summer for those who are exhausted and wants to increase the energy in their body. For nutritional value there is ginseng's in the chicken that helps our body to retain the energy during the hot weather.
