General information

Laurel Hill Kennels was established in 1983 and is located in Pigeon Hills. It has become many pets' favorite home away from home. With our clean and secure environment, pet owners can vacation without worry. Our spacious indoor/outdoor enclosures are covered and surrounded by a security fence. For our boarders’ health and well-being, every kennel is cleaned daily and thoroughly disinfected between boarders.
Our facility features:
• 29 kennels, each with a heated/cooled 4'x6' inside area connected to a 4'x14' concrete outside run
• A size-appropriate, raised bed included in each inside area
• A large outdoor playground available (at $5.00 per session)
• Separate cat boarding area with 4' high cages including 2 perches
For your convenience, Laurel Hill Kennels provides quality dry food; however, you are welcome to bring your pet's favorite food and treats. You may also send some of your pet's favorite toys and something familiar to sleep with that is easy to wash.
Policies:
Many pet owners rely on our services each year. In fairness to everyone there are established guidelines we follow concerning reservations.
• Please be certain of your plans prior to making your reservation. There is a 3-day minimum boarding charge for weekends between Memorial Day and Labor Day and also during major holidays.
• Emergency cancellations will be handled individually.
• Prior notice by phone is expected if you wish to pick up your pet before the scheduled end of stay. Also during busy times, you will be charged for the entire scheduled stay.
• All dogs must be leashed while on the property and in the open areas of the building. Cats should be brought in a carrier whenever possible. Any pets found to have fleas will be given a flea bath at the owner’s expense.
• Vaccinations: Written proof of current vaccinations is required. We will be happy to answer any questions about this matter when you make your reservation. It is advisable for your pet to receive his vaccinations at least two (2) weeks prior to his stay. We require dogs to have distemper/parvo, rabies & bordetella. Cats need to have distemper, rabies, feline leukemia (not required but recommended).
• Grooming: Laurel Hill Kennels offers all-breed dog grooming by appointment. We will also groom or bathe dogs during their stay with us. Every effort is made to provide this service as close to the end of the dog's stay as possible. Scheduling grooming at the time you make the boarding reservation is recommended.
• If two pets share one kennel or cat cage, their daily rate is reduced by $2.
• Pets picked up by 9 am will not be charged for that day's stay.

Our staff:
• Melanie Mitchell, who has an A.A.S in veterinary technology, opened Laurel Hill Kennels in 1983 and still manages its day to day operation. She and her family live on the property adjacent to the kennel.
• Lori Murphy has been grooming at the kennel since 1989. She came here after serving an apprenticeship at a grooming salon in York, PA.
• Barbara Digby, a graduate of the International Academy of Pet Design, started grooming at the kennel in 2002. She also works as a relief caregiver.
