Peter Glass Woodworks

General information

Peter Glass Woodworks company has been producing unique, custom furniture and architectural millwork since 1978. Originally established in Farmington, Connecticut, Peter has been working in Colorado since 1994. His current work reflects a combination of his background in classic design and the influences of the West’s natural elements.

Peter was influenced by 18th century Connecticut Valley furniture and developed an appreciation for New England’s tradition of fine-crafted furniture and millwork. In the 1970s, Peter studied the techniques of fine furniture design and the craft of woodworking at the Powell and Tierney Apprenticeship Program in Hatfield, Massachusetts.

In the 1980s, Peter studied at the Parson School of Design in New York City and his craft was further enriched while working for the Broome Street Workshop in Soho. At the Broome Street Workshop, Peter was involved in all aspects of turning a designer’s plans into finished and installed millwork including kitchens, built-ins, and paneling.

After returning to Connecticut in the late 1980s, Peter worked with architects, designers, and clients, designing and producing fine furniture and architectural millwork on a custom basis. In 1994, Peter moved his workshop to Douglas County, Colorado, where the expansiveness and beauty of Colorado influenced Peter to create pieces in a more natural design suited to the western lifestyle. Peter’s Colorado work is based on a solid foundation in classic design and handcrafted artisanship combined with native stones and motifs that reflect the western spirit.
