St. Tammany Fire District #8 Station 81

General information

Here is a little info on our department. We have 3 stations. 2 are manned stations 24 hours a day/7 days a week/365 days a year.
We have 3 shifts that work 24 hours on and 48 hours off. Each shift is compromised of 1 Captain and 3 Firefighter/Operators. All employees are trained in medical response. Some employees are Emergency Medical Responders and some are EMT-Basics.
The Captain and 2 of the FireFighter/Operators are at Station 81 which is located on Highway 36. The 3rd FireFighter/Operator is at Station 82 which is located at the intersection of Highway 1082 and Highway 1083.
Station 81 is our central station. The Fire Chief and Administration Assistant offices are also located there. Station 81 houses Engine 81 and Engine 83, Rescue 81 and Unit 81. Engine 81 is the First due Engine to all fires in Abita Springs. Engine 83 is our tanker. It is also the Mutual Aid truck to all surrounding districts.
Rescue 81 is used for all calls in the response area from Medicals to MVAs to Public Assists.
Units 81 is the Captains vehicle. It is also used by personnel to attend classes.
Station 82 houses Engine 82 and Brush 81.
Engine 82 is the first due Engine in the Waldheim part of our district.
Brush 81 responds to all brush fires in our district. It will also respond to any of the surrounding districts if requested.
Station 83 houses Engine 84.
Engine 84 is a spare Engine and is used in the event Engine 81 or Engine 82 have to go down for repair.
