Lama's St. Roch Company Information
General information
The beginnings for Lama family serving the Louisiana community started long before the name St. Roch. In the early 1900's this family of Italian immigrants landed in New Orleans and opened for business, serving the community by way of selling fresh produce at their local produce stand. This was just the beginning of the Lama's relationship with the New Orleans community.
Within the first 10 years of citizenship, the Lama family took to the water and made a big splash in the seafood industry, harvesting fresh oysters from Lake Borgne by way of a sail-powered schooner. By 1947 the family stepped into the New Orleans St. Roch Market and quickly became the area's favorite place for seafood of all kinds, St. Roch Seafood became a staple business in the community and continued to serve the New Orleans area as the sole occupant of the Market for over 50 years.
In 1987 the Lama family ventured out to serve the community by way of full service restaurant. And by 1992 had come across Lake Pontchartrain to serve the Northshore community.
Today, the Lama family is excited to be able to continue it's legacy of serving the Northshore community. We are now located in the Historic Old Mandeville area, just two blocks off the Pontchartrain lakefront, and in the beautiful former Griffin's Bakery.
