Acelity and its subsidiaries are a global advanced wound care company that leverages the strengths of Kinetic Concepts, Inc. (KCI) and Systagenix Wound Management, Limited (formerly Johnson & Johnson’s wound care business). Its beginnings started as an operation in a 1-bedroom apartment in San Antonio, TX, in 1976 by an emergency room physician who saw the value of kinetic therapy in dealing with spinal cord injuries, multiple trauma and severe pulmonary condition. From 13 original employees to now 5,000 around the globe four decades later, Acelity still calls San Antonio home with products available in more than 90 countries.
